Bucking Fastard left this review about The Shilton Arms

In the middle of a scruffy village with a busy road running through it,food is the primary focus which suited my book. It's been family owned for over thirty years and a notice informs that the family will be moving on in May 2026 to their sister pub the Rose & Castle ,Ansty not far away.So change will be coming.
Right now the L shaped interior is full of pine dining tables set for service, while the wall coverings are of pop stars from the 80/90 timeframe which now feel a little dated. The soundtrack was from the same era,so possibly the operations hasn't really moved on under the current ownership.
The guv'nor is a friendly chap and immediately asked me if I wanted a table, the menu is hearty pub grub rather than gastro and the ale option was a very well kept pint of GK Old Speckled Hen NBSS 3.5 with another pump unclipped.Whether you can just drink in here is another question ,I would guess so but the atmosphere is certainly not one of a boozer.
My pub grub was good, median main prices £18 but given that change is afoot,I would reserve judgement about whether I would happily return.A bit of a leg from the Oxford Canal but not out of the question.

Really a restaurant, referred to as the Shilton Eatery on so of the exterior signage, but it has a bar at the front of the L-shaped interior. However, with all tables laid up for those dining, getting a seat inside will depend on how busy it is; also, it will be one of the patio tables beside the entrance on the right-hand side. Boltmaker (£4.80) available from one of the pair of handpumps, with Old Golden Hen 'coming soon' on the other. NB - Open every day but closes at 20:30 (and 18:00 on Sundays).
