Pretty good community pub with an Irish theme (mainly Guinness-based), Unusual layout. A bit modernised but decently done. Three cask over four pumps, with two smaller brewery ones, inevitably I went Bass which was holding-up well in the scorching weather (NBSS 3.5). Toilets are located in the rear extension which the original boundary windows look out towards. GBG listed.

We got to this pub by walking up Hearsall Lane and then taking a narrow passageway between the houses on the right and coming out onto Craven St. We arrived in here mid Tuesday afternoon and the pub was busy with locals, who were a decent bunch.
This is a traditional two roomed pub, with the bar and tv on your left and lounge on the right. There were four ales on, which were Bass, Abbott, Church End and Hearsall. We went for Hearsall Brewery Chapelfield at 4%, which is brewed out the back, which was ok at first and then lost its way half way down the glass. The Church End Goats Milk was more to my liking. Prices here were good and my cheese and onion cob off the bar at £1.20 was brill. The Irish owner and barmaid were very welcoming here.

The green paint and multiple, traditional Guiness signs outside give a strong clue that is a local Irish boozer and the theme continues inside.
You walk straight into a corridor with the bar to the left, where a lively and competitive darts match was taking place on our visit. You can access the bar from the corridor so if you're frequenting the lounge area to the right there's a short cut to a drink.
The whole place is decorated with Irish photographs and memorabilia as well as lots of Beatles paraphinalia. I was impressed to see a signed Sean Kelly cycling shirt displayed in the corridor.
Despite it being a Monday evening, the place was busy with darts, cards and footie watching and there was plenty of friendly banter.
Beer: Church End Goat's Milk, Morland Original and Bass. The Bass was fine but it's not a wholly inspiring choice and most people seemed to be drinking either lager or Guiness. Funnily enough.
A warm and friendly local but with limited ale appeal.
