Very much of its time, a big 'modern' bar in the ground floor of a casino block (how old does modern have to get before we stop calling it modern?). Split level with two sides, and generally feeling a bit run down and unloved. There are various food and drink offers to try and tempt custom. Handpumps in the upper level seem unused but the 5 in the main bar had duplicated Doom Bar and Purity Mad Goose (quite drinkable) plus an Old Rosie. There are much better places nearby but it is handy for the back entrance of New St station.

Surprisingly on a Pub Trail detailed on the Birmingham CAMRA web site. I genuinely cannot think why - its grim looking on the outside, slightly more comfortable on the inside. A cavernous place, with TV Screens on every wall.

Two cask on and the Purity Mad Goose was OK.

So much choice, I cannot think why CAMRA are promoting it.

A pub I have used many times over the years. It is much improved from the old Sam Wellers. 2 ales on and my Hophead was in good nick. Very handy for the station.
