Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Beaufort Bar (Plough & Harrow Hotel)
Part of the Best Western hotel, which is interesting building in exposed brick, although its main claim to fame seems to be where JRR Tolkein spent his wedding night on leave from the army in 1916. It looks and feels like a smart hotel bar, although there is a bit more to look at than most. One sadly disused handpump on the gantried counter, so made do with a Maltsmiths IPA (pricey, as expected, at £4.80).

Soup Dragon left this review about The Plough & Harrow Hotel
A detached hotel, restaurant and pub, with patio area. The history of the hotel goes back beyond the early 19th century building (with modern additions) that is currently seen. It is in a Jacobean style, exectued mainly in brick, with stone quoins and windows, along with several small gables. The interior to the bar area has a couple of rooms. The main room is in cream and wood, with red carpet and has a TV that was showing a cooking programme. There was no music. The walls a had a few traditional and a few more modern pictures on them and the seating was a mix of high red chairs and high-backed lower red chairs. I didnt really see the side area. One person was in and the service was fine. Beer; usual tap stuff with Theakston's Bitter on handpull for £3.60 a pint. I had a half and it was OK. A run-of-the-mill place, but not as generic as most around it (Ivy Bush excepting).
