The Bristol Pear is a fairly large pub that is very handy for Selly Oak train station.
Once inside the bar faces in a decent sized room, the left side is square shaped and carpeted, this area looked quite smart, there were Bench seating and normal tables and chairs in this area, the room narrows on the right side and leads down to the larger rear area which has two pool tables and a large screen which was showing the FA Cup Final Arsenal v Chelsea, the seating here is normal tables and chairs and high tables and chairs.
There were a few pumps on the bar,but i was told there was a problem as they had no gas, so there were no real ales on which was a shame,i had a drink of Shipyard Pale Ale which was cold and fizzy.
I thought this was a decent pub just a shame there were problems with the real ales.
Also i never know how to work out who runs pubs like this,IE Stonegate and Antic down London.

Close to the station, this Stonegate pub has been given a substantial makeover with mostly light decor and a mix of modern furniture. Also has a front terrace and a rear games room with pool table, etc. Normally has four real ales available, but I managed to catch it when just Hobgoblin (£3.55) was actually on. There are also five anonymous #1 to #5 craft keg taps, but the chalk-board showed that these were pretty mainstream.

Another great pub that appears to have got everything right.
Something for everyone - decent, cheap food. Great beers - the bombardier Burnt Gold was superb - and sports room/pool table.
The last review says no real ales. There were 3 cask and 5 keg on my visit.
Busy but well staffed. A great experience.
