Its now open - and appears to be a pub/restaurant. Signs had Carling and Guinness pints. A big neon sign saying "Open" but all windows completely black out with curtains in the middle of the day. An open door showed a pool table.
Alas, I was too chicken to venture in. It was not being able to see through the windows that did it for me.
Its called the Rahya.

An end terraced Victorian corner pub - a very 'tight' corner pub! It is in white paineted brick mainly, with a corner entrance - the pilastered frontage may have been repainted, it was too dark to tell. The interior has a couple of rooms that are served by the same serving bar; which together form an L-shape. The room I entered (via the corner entrance) was a bar, which was in yellow with wood panel. There is a white ceiling and wood floor. It is very narrow and a few blokes were in playing dominoes. The other room seemed to be in the same decor, with a pool table and a fireplace, but i didn't see much of it. I didn't see much in the way of pictures, a few Pimms and Jamaican flags decorated. The TV wasn't on and the music was reggae based. The service was friendly enough and the clientele leaned to the more mature - and also friendly enough to pass a quick chat. Beer; no real ale, nothing really other than lager on draught, with cans/bottles and spirits. I had a shandy. It seems a hub for the black community of Lozells.
