Strongers . left this review about The Bull Ring Tavern

The Bull Ring Tavern is a single roomed pub with a brown and white tiled floor that runs from the left to the right-hand entrance between an old painted wooden counter across the rear and laminate flooring with banquettes and tables that stretch along the curved front windowed wall. To the left of the counter is a dartboard and a large television that was airing muted live sport while 90s pop played at a high volume, much to the delight of the local women who thought they were in Benidorm. The barman was friendly, but there was no attempt to clear the empties off the tables, so it looked very messy. It wasn’t unwelcoming in here, but I struggled to get comfortable, so I was glad to leave once I’d knocked back a generic half of lager.

I found myself in here for a quick pint (pre-lockdown 1) on a Saturday early evening, whilst waiting for a pre-booked train back to London. Wasn't expecting much as it's fair to say it's not the most impressive looking building, but actually it was quite busy and drew a mixed, relaxed crowd, which gave it a nice, chilled atmosphere - perhaps people stopping off after a visit to the Bullring? Had a Guinness whilst watching the 2nd half of a footy match - thankfully no commentary as there was music playing over the top of it. Bar staff friendly and got served quickly at the bar. Would go again next time I am in Brum, would have liked to have stayed longer as it looked as though you could have quite a good evening in here, or even pop in for a quiet pint.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bull Ring Tavern

Basic, single-room market pub which has (very limited) ups and (much more frequent) downs over the years. Given a very modest refurbishment by the current owners (Craft Union) so it at least looks tidier than in previous years. Initially relatively quiet when I ventured in mid-evening, but the reggae (on an admittedly decent sound system) was suddenly turned up to the max. Still no real ale, but at least keg Worthington was available as an alternative to the inevitable John Smiths, and at a remarkable £1.85.
