An attractive pub from the outside, inside the New Bowling Green is quite basic. There’s a central L-shaped bar counter that supports premium and craft keg alongside two hand pumps that were drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar and a nice drop of Brewpoint’s Anchorman. A seating area to the right of the bar has a fireplace as well as a few board games. To the left is a strip of seating and out the back is a large beer garden with a patio that leads to a large grass covered area. The service was polite, and yes there is a sense of age to this pub, but I don’t think I’d go out of my way to revisit.

Nice olde worlde kind of place. The inside is nice enough with its wobbly beams and stuff. There were 3 handpulls working and the beer was fine. A large and very good beer garden is to the rear.

Charles Wells house in an aged building, 15th century. A little of the character remains inside in the T shaped interior but we’re mainly talking wonky ceiling, beams etc. Overly loud music didn’t really enhance the atmosphere. The main draw is the fantastic rear garden, large and surrounded by trees, with a grassed rear. Three ales on; Wells Eagle IPA (good form), Hop Studio Citra and Camerons Fridge Magnet. Pub is child friendly. It's fine overall but lacks a little something to make it premier league.
