Looks a bit dated and careworn from the outside but it’s a GBG 24 place so we poked our noses round the door on the way back from Walsall. Very much a food-led operation on our Sunday sojourn and very popular, there was no room in the attractive front bar so we had to sit in the overflow room behind off a side corridor along with single a demonic-looking child and its iPad. The cask had taken a hammering and just two were left on, a house beer of unknown provenance and Jennings Cumberland, which was par (NBSS 3). Two discarded batteries in the toilet pot purri was an odd talking point. The timing of the visit wasn’t great and perhaps I’d be a bit more generous on another day. But you play the hand you’re dealt. 5.5

Pleasant, GBG listed village local in an area good for pubs. The original bar to the front is comfortable and friendly, leading further back through a rather odd glassed-in corridor to a restaurant and enclosed garden/smokers' area. One gets the feeling that sometime some alterations were done where the design didn't quite meet the reality. In any case venetian blinds on an internal window seem most strange. Nice beer locally sourced including Hook Norton and Warwick Brewery, and signs promoting a mini beer festival.
Well worth a visit

Village local listed in Good Beer Guide 2010.
Nice old building, but set out a little regimently inside.
Beer of good quality, including a local brew.
