The Keys has a wooden floored front bar that has a small L-shaped serving counter to the left and a few tables, but is mostly standing room. The three handpumps were drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar and Doom Bar Extra Chilled alongside Wye Valley The Keys Pale Ale. Over in the right rear is the Naughty Corner which is a small seating area. At the rear is a seating area served by the back bar and the toilets are out the back. The service was polite, but I was the only customer during a recent midweek evening visit. The vibe and layout suggests that his place is designed to be busy with a younger weekend crowd. Not for me.

Much improved since Ray’s visit, described below. The young staff were very welcoming, the atmosphere was convivial and the décor was fresh yet homely. A blind dog wandered around making people feel welcome, while the locals came over and chatted. One ale on, Ubu from Purity, which was in excellent condition. I’d be very happy to come back to eat or drink here.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Crosskeys
If you fancy seeing a couple of people practically at it, standing at the bar, then this is the place for you. Stella and Carling were the main staples here. I wouldn't even dream of asking for Cask ale, as they wouldn't know what it was. The music playing was loud and chav.
