Bucking Fastard left this review about Bowling Green
The battleship grey exterior may give you the impression of a refurbed gastro pub ,but a proper boozer lurks within. The ceilings are low with exposed beams in places and from the entrance there are two sections,to the left some bench seating with high tables further back while to the right there is more traditional pub furniture and a good darts throw with a display of trophys. The L shaped bar serves both sections while off a rear corridor is a seperate dining room and then a beer garden.Flatscreens are dotted about ,on mute at lunchtime but televised sport will play a large part here, both football and rugby. There is a Sunday quiz and occasional solo live musicians so the pub caters to the local community ,with a good number of older regulars in on my lunchtime visit.
Three handpumps offering Bath Gem,St Austell Tribute and Wye Valley Butty Bach (Spot on ,NBSS 4) is not an exciting range but conditioning of my ale was excellent.I ordered food from the lunchtime menu to be eaten in the tap room and it too was top class, proper sausages, gravy ,mash and veg £13.Most mains around £13,lighter bites available .
I warmed to this pub ,the service was very friendly and the whole place is properly run.I would most certainly use it again when in town.

Komakino . left this review about The Bowling Green Inn
The first of Southam's four public houses as you enter from the top of Coventry Street, located on the left-hand side of the thoroughfare. A short L-shaped bar faces you as you enter the door from the street, and the main area is wooden-floored with notable features including a fruit machine, dartboard, a well-adorned trophy cabinet and two large-screen televisions (both on mute, with one showing Sky Sports News). A separate dining room is located off to the left. A rather unambitious ale front presented a choice of Tribute, London Pride, Proper Job and Theakstons Best Bitter. However, it's always nice to be surprised, and a half of the latter came in at £1.65 and was in superb shape. That coupled with a throng of locals, amiable service from a young barman and New Order's 'Blue Monday' made this the pick of the four pubs visited in Southam on a early evening Monday in March.
