A low entrance gives way to a sports bar with large flatscreens and very loud music .The bar runs down the right side and is mainly a sea of standard multinational keg crap and two seperate handpumps with just one working on my trip offering Greene King 4-4-Brew,a bland pale ,clear but tasting of exactly nothing (NBSS poor).
There is a raised rear pool table and a vast drop down screen and the seating here is more traditional with two small banquettes along with loose tables.At least every England goal was followed by a free shot,but we had to put up with a local doing the commentary over the pubs PA ,he didnt get many players names right.
Bouncers on the doors , it was noisy but well behaved inside.However apart from watching sport ,I cant see myself returning given there seems to be a Greene King ale tie.

As noted below this place has seen a refurbishment in recent years. It's a roughly L shaped pub with red tiles along the bar and a small carpeted area to the immediate right. At the rear is a raised dining area and a patio. I thought the rear part of the pub may be a more modern extension. I didn't make any note of a pool table or darts so they may no longer be here or I completely missed them.
The bar has three hand pumps but two were unused leaving just GK Old Speckled Hen (£3.00) which was in decent nick. The reasonable price may have been a Happy Hour deal.
I preferred this to the TV Sport dominated place over the road.

Refurbished pub, lit up a bit like a gingerbread house in early November, but the interior unfortunately has a lot less character than one might hope for. Little trace of the original layout remains, with an elongated arrangement of seating in front of the bar separated from the larger area further back by a high step. Doom Bar and Westgate (Greene King) What the Fawkes is That? (£3.20) available from two of three handpumps.
