Beautifully situated 18th-century village pub overlooking the village green and duck pond. It remains the community local it would have been when this was a mining village, public bar to the left, lounge to the right with an emphasis on food, and a fairly recently added function room.
The best bit is outside, with plenty of tables by the pond where you can easily while away an hour watching the ducks doing what ducks do. Charles Wells, so Brewpoint IPA, plus Tribute and Bass on the pumps. Had my first pint of Bass in at least 30 years and it was a nice drink.
Well worth a visit on a sunny afternoon, shame about the strong smell of chips inside.
