Little new to add to Mr Fastard's accurate review below but I would echo the traditional, old school and friendly nature of the place.
Beers on were: Sadlers Hop Bomb and Red IPA, Blythe Staffie and Hancocks HB. All that we tried was in good nick and over only 4 beers that represents a reasonable choice of both strengths and styles.
The best I've visited in Atherstone for ale.

A proper old school boozer which has featured in the last few GBG's.The front door opens into a lounge area with banquettes set in the bay windows and a coal affect gas fire belting out some good heat. The bar runs along the far wall while the open plan interior widens out at the back into a pool table, terrestrial TV,darts board and gaming machines. The seating here is green velour benches and square tables while around the bar is the spot for vertical drinking. There is a beer terrace outside.
This free house offers a range of rotating guests along with a value option in Hancock's HB at £2 the pint.My Blythe Bridge Staffie and Sadlers Hop Bomb were in good nick and there was friendly service from behind the bar.The community feel is maintained by regular events and our Wednesday evening visit coincided with bingo, with the chatty landlady overseeing proceedings. The guv'nor bade us a fond farewell on leaving.
The GBG points out the 6pm opening during the week,so plan accordingly.I enjoyed my visit and would quite make this my first port of call in town, expecting to stay quite a while given the good range of ale.
