The Pitcher and Piano is set in a prime location on the Quayside at the foot of the Millennium Bridge, with super views over the river and the Sage.Called in on quite few occasions on our 5 day stay in a nearby hotel, where it always seemed busy with a clientele of all ages. There was three cask ales on with the Hobgobblin being the pick of the bunch.

I wouldn't normally touch a Pitcher & Piano with a bargepole, but lunch had been arranged here and finding an alternative was not really an option. The food was better than I was expecting (especially given that we were quite a large party), and I suppose that the keg Pedigree was just about OK on an unusually warm September day. However, this place does have a fantastic location on the Quayside opposite the iconic Baltic Mill and Sage on the Gateshead bank of the Tyne. The organiser also ensured that we got there early to see the regular midday opening of the dramatic millenium footbridge. I shouldn't really rate this higher than a '4', but it would be churlish not to give it another point or two just for being where it is.

Location, location, location, is what they say, and this pub has got it by the spadeful. Sat right at the end of the Blinking eye bridge on the Quayside, just opposite the Baltic Art Museum, and over looking the river and all the bridges. The building itself is a striking glass and steel construction. This place is always busy, but such is the nature of this place that you are able to have a lazy read of the papers on sunday afternoon, but go mad with the rest of the Quayside circuit at the night time.
