Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Free Trade Inn
Set in an elevated position on the Byker bank of the Ouseburn, with splendid views looking westwards towards the landmark River Tyne bridges. Quite a small, slightly split-level, L-shaped layout that was already very busy (and noisy) when we called in. With five of the six handpumps in use, the choice was the single hop El Dorado and a Tiramisu Porter from North Riding Brewery, the Thornbridge / JW Lees Rosa collaboration, Long Shadow from Roosters and Buxton Deepdale.

I visited this pub in 2018 but didn't write a review at the time as I was with family members and it was late at night and very noisy, all things which tend to make me avoid making notes to write up later. This visit was part of a crawl, or pub research trip as we call it, so again there was too much talking to make notes and I will rely on memory. Again, the pub was very noisy although it was not yet 4pm on a Friday. There were five hand pumps, with choices from North Riding, Buxton, Rooster's and Thornbridge. I went for the Rooster's Long Shadow, which was just as good as when I had the same beer in Lincoln earlier in the week (NBSS 3.5). As previous reviewers have said, a traditional local that seems to be thriving, and I'd be happy to visit again (though perhaps with earplugs).

Excellent beer pub, currently with great views and well worth a visit. Traditional local that seems to be thriving
