Tucked away in a very desirable corner, this pub is Richmond to a T - cosy and well-worn but a bit upmarket in an unfussy way. All very nice though, and there is a lovely little suntrap garden at the back. Ales on were Surrey Hills Shere Drop, Otter Ale and Harvey's Best.

We came here specifically for the food and Sunday lunch in particular. The pub bar area is well described by previous reviewers but there is a separate smaller restaurant section upstairs which is quieter than the main pub if you are only interested in dining.
The Sunday roasts were very good but as others have commented, this is still a decent pub just for a beer, especially as it is a short walk from the river. Same usual four beers on for our visit and the Otter and TT Landlord were in good form for us and we had a beer in the bar area before going upstairs to the dining room. However it is fair to say that on a Sunday lunchtime it doesn’t take too long before every table in the bar area is reserved for people eating, so for that beer only pub experience probably better to visit mid-week..

Just up from the Thames, beware if parking your car further down the lane when there is a spring tide !This is a charming little local in an upmarket area. The ceilings are low,you enter into a front room with modest bar to the left,a few traditional tables and chairs, sadly just a coal effect gas fire and a seperate bar with a large coffee machine.Beyond the central pillars, there is a small back seating area with a larger rectangular banquette then doors that open onto the pub garden.
Food is a major draw here ,and beware that tables will be marked as reserved but thankfully with a time slot,so you maybe able to pitch down for a beer up to a certain time if the kitchen is going to be busy. However the pub is drinker friendly, and can't be described as a gastro food outlet.
4 handpumps serving Doom Bar,TT Landlord,Otter Bitter and St Austell Tribute (rather tired) were the somewhat mainstream real ale options, but I enjoyed the ambiance and would return.
