Quite a small,traditional pub opposite the cricket pitch on the Green.Two doors but only one functional,the front windows will fold back in really hot weather.There are three benches outside.Inside a bit sparse,traditional tables,a seating area beyond the left sided bar but there is lots of cricket ephemera on the walls and an honours board for a cricket team ,not sure if this club plays on the Green however.The stairs to a first floor function room has far more interesting cricket photos.
Live music on Thursdays,quiz Sundays and a great rock standards soundtrack helped create a positive vibe and the ale selection was TT Landlord and Exeter Ferryman (NBSS just acceptable) with a house Cricketers Pale "coming soon" but of unknown provinance.
A lot more of a pub that many in Richmond ,a better ale range would have upped the score.

Ideally situated on the large green where cricket would have been played. Walls inside are festooned (if that's the right word) with cricket bats, framed covers of The Cricketer magazine, and even a photo of Denis Compton (younger readers ask your grandmothers). The background music is rather more up to date, but not any better for that. I asked the barman why there was no Abbot if this is a Greene King pub, but he said it's owned by Metropolitan, a subsidiary of GK, and doesn't have Abbot or GK IPA as a consequence. The house beer on the other hand is a re-badged GK beer (London Glory?) and was only £5.50/pint but had a hint of diacetyl about it (NBSS 2.5). And the WiFi is GK's own, so tell me again how it's not a GK pub.

Thought this pub was fantastic - mainly due to the service from an old school landlord. Shirt and Tie and made me feel really welcome, as a solo diner.

Beautiful frontage and views looking over Richmond Green.

A Greene King pub - with their IPA on and Landlord as guest.

Food was superb and for Richmond/London, reasonably priced.

Very enjoyable visit.
