A Tuesday night visit while in the village for football.

Having visited all of the other pubs in the village last season as well as this one I decided it would be the perfect place for pre match pints as it's out of the way and close to the ground.

On last seasons visit there was one ale on that was drinkable however this time around the Doombar had just ran out and wasn't being replaced until the following day so other than lager and cider the other choice was John Smiths Smooth on keg, never great in the South and was a little too cold on this occasion, however it was drinkable.

This large estate style pub is apparently under threat from a developer and could be razored to the ground any day soon, all the more reason to support it. Very much a locals pub with the pool table being a key part on this visit, people q'ing to play on it.

Friendly manager and wife (I guess), locals friendly enough, didn't bother our little group.

A couple of hours spent here before kick off. Hopefully the pub will be saved from the developers as we don't need to lose yet another 'proper' pub but with the announcement issued on 19th April it seems unlikely.

It is understood that the owners of The Limes have told the current leaseholders to vacate the premises within 28 days from last Wednesday [April 19].

It is widely thought that the owners of the pub, Ei Publican Partnerships, formally known as Enterprise Inns, want to sell the site to Earlswood Homes, who have had two planning applications previously rejected by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council for the pub to be turned into residential accommodation.
