A hugely modernised inter-war pub, given a complete refurbishment when Youngs took it over in 2004. It is now an expansive series of spacious rooms, all done up in the usual posh drawing room style with a mixture of dining tables and leather sofas and banquettes, in muted colours with lots of framed prints round the walls. Outside, the former front car park now houses a vast covered tabled area. Three Youngs ales on (Special, Ordinary and Winter Warmer) plus a guest, which was Dorking Winter's Coming - very nice but priced as you might expect. All very smart but the sort of place you'd take your auntie to.

A large opened out gastro pub, four handpumps, three from the Wells and Youngs stable plus a welcome guest of Surrey Hills Shere Drop. I wouldn'tchoose to come back here for drinking purposes alone.
