An attractive corner site pub hidden away in the back streets of Farncombe, fine looking floral displays compliment the homely looking appearance. Split-level inside as the terrain dictates, boarded floors, some wainscoting and some good quality exposed brickwork, fireplaces, decor includes cricket memorabilia including bats mounted on the wall and various pictures; the picture of Lords signed by Dennis Compton is strangely located in the gents, seems a waste of a good picture to me, perhaps I'm missing some joke or irony.
The pub maintains a traditional feel, you can freely wander through the various areas which once would have been separate rooms, the division remains noticeable. The garden looks nice but on my visit contained some loud children charging around so I remained inside.
Fullers, so that meant Pride, ESB, Seafarers, Oliver's Island and Red Fox. Food served and the menu looked rather good, home made stuff with local ingredients where possible, I was rather tempted by the pie with mash or chips and from what I could see, the correct amount of gravy.....this means plenty. You can get a side of chips too with the options of a topping, including gravy, great stuff.
A nice pub this one, clearly popular despite being out of town, definitely worth it.

Previously a GBG pub, this back street local consists of 2 bare-boarded main bars and a smaller drinking area selling Fullers beers. There is also a small dining area, a terrace/smoking area to the front and a small garden. It was founded by cricketer Julius Caesar, and the sporting theme covers cricket (naturally) and rugby, there being various trophies and memorabilia scattered around. Although it's had its troubles in the past, this pub is now excellent. The staff were wonderfully pleasant and the locals very welcoming; the atmosphere was homely. There were 5 ales on, all Fullers. I sampled them all, then as I couldn't believe how good they all were, sampled them all again to make sure. There are also various CAMRA awards fromt he past on show, and it's surprising it isn't in the latest GBG. ESB, Seafarers, London Pride, Front row and the one where I can no longer read my handwriting were all in first class condition. Well worth dropping in for a swift gallon if passing and an excellent place to spend time enjoying life.
