Nice looking traditional pub from outside and in. Busy and cosy in the front bar.Ugly looking lineup on the bar though with 6 handpumps and only Landlord and Doom available.Like Malden man I like to see local beer on and Surrey Hills beers could only improve this pub.

Reopened after a lengthy closure, this pub has a well preserved attractive frontage. The front room has the bar to one side, a part carpeted, part chequer tiled floor, beamed ceiling, for some reason with an added lifting rsj beam. Leaded windows, tiled fireplace plus one squint ended and bricked up with the bressumer still visible, framed prints and models of sailing ships providing the interest, the TV was high behind the bar counter showing the football. Through to the rear the pub widens out and looks more upmarket, seating with bucket chairs, beyond is a terrace then an old stable building converted to a separate bar, likely for hire or events.
Six handpumps, normally a sign of high expectations but with five on a dullish choice of Pride, Adnam's Bitter, Pedigree, Courage Best and Landlord. The clip reversed just has to be Doom Bar with that list I'm certain! Clipboard menus on the tables but no one eating lateish Sunday afternoon.
Really pleased to see a long shut pub back up and running, the old place I understand had a bit of a reputation, it seems that they are trying to force the pub a bit more upmarket without being exclusive to your average punter. Full marks for that, it still comes over as a proper town pub, good luck to them but why not get a local Surrey beer in if you are doing six?
