Fairly basic split-room pub which can be found in a Dorking side street. One section of the pub has a couple of TV screens with the one next to the bar showing snooker on our visit, but with no sound. Instead, music was playing from a radio station, despite there also being a jukebox. A notable feature is an old police telephone box in one corner, which actually forms the entrance to the gents toilets. There is also an empty birdcage, a fruit machine, pictures of old hunting scenes on the walls and a cabinet with 3 empty soda dispensers. BT Guest Wifi is available.

The second room on the right-hand side has a pool table and a dartboard, whilst a passageway to the left side of the pub appeared to lead to an outdoor area at the rear.

We initially tried to enter through the right-hand door into the room with the pool table. It appeared to be locked. So, we tried what I assumed to be the main entrance on the left. The landlady had been sat in the left section and seemed surprised that we could not gain entry. She quizzed us as to why we didn't continue to enter through that door, which wasn't the friendliest of welcomes!

Shere Drop is the regular cask ale and the guest was Ranmore, with a third handpull unused. Apparently, this is sufficient to get the pub into the Good Beer Guide. Ciders were Strongbow & Thatcher's Haze.

I thought this was a fairly basic backstreet local. But I wouldn't go out of my way to return, especially as for some reason I didn't get the "friendly" welcome that the two previous reviewers experienced.

A relatively unspoilt locals' pub just off the High Street. it is horseshoe shaped round the central bar counter, with a pool table one side and a sports TV the other. At the back there is a little tabled yard (the Snakepit). Despite the sign on the door saying no children, there were! A friendly welcome though, and the solitary Surrey Hills Shere Drop was in passable condition.

Known locally as the Snakepit which is also on the pub sign,this is a small locals pub just off the High Street.There are two sections,the bar area dominated by a large flatscreen,while the far section has a pool table and more flatscreens.Furniture is traditional and there is a boozer vibe.Friendly welcome with two ales options Surrey Hills Greensands IPA and Shere Drop (NBSS 3.5).
Worth including in a real ale crawl,it's a pleasant spot.
