Closed for a while and now reopened as an American bar and diner called Big Mamma. The servery is still intact and it looks like you can still pop in just for a drink (in fact, it looks much the same as before, but with a different colour scheme).

This end of Croydon is bereft of a decent pub, and from the outside at least, the Gun looks like it might be the best of a poor bunch.
The pub is surprisingly large and appears more so by the sparse furnishings and wide open spaces. All of the customers were lined up on stools along the bar, and aside from that, there wasn't much else in the way of seating except for a couple of tables and chairs and a large sofa with accompanying wicker chairs around a low table. The interior looks pretty battered with exposed brickwork at the bottom of the front wall and plenty of peeling paint.
Three hand pumps lined the bar, but only Greene King IPA (£2.90) was on, with what looked like Harvey’s and London Pride clips turned. I had quite a wait to be served, despite only a handful of other drinkers and the service, when it finally arrived, was painfully slow from the very young looking barman.
There are a few things dotted around the pub to keep the locals entertained, such as gaming machines, two pool tables, a dartboard, an upright piano and a small beer garden area.
A bit disappointing all told, but this is the wrong end of town for anyone looking for a good pint or decent atmosphere.

Tired looking pub and the drab blue walls and lack of customers made it a bit depressing. Minimalist decor with a few traditional touches remaining. Four handpumps but only Youngs Ordinary showing, I was then told that was off and offered John Smiths Smooth - no thanks. I had a Guinness at a frankly obscene £3.40, no wonder the place was empty. They even had the cheek to put up a blackboard saying they were absorbing the recent tax rises. Two pool tables and a dartboard. I'm sure it serves the needs of its regulars but even if I lived next door I'd not be one of them.
