This has been through various incarnations. but it is currently based around Thai food and generally feels more like a restaurant than a pub, with marble effect tables and leather seating. The counter has a cocktail section at one end and, at the other, a copper stand of 5 tedious kegs and a brace of handpumps, one of which was serving a slightly unpleasant and very expensive TT Landlord. There is also a large seated and partly covered yard at the back. I suppose it is possibly better it still acts as a pub rather than going the whole restaurant hog but I can't say I would go back for a drink.

The heady heights of being Surrey POTY are long gone because Thyme Tavern is now more of a Thia restaurant with restaurant furniture that sits on worn laminate flooring. There are still two hand pumps on the counter that’s found mid-way along the rear wall, one of which was in use drawing TT Landlord, and premium keg was also available alongside Brixton Reliance. Out the back is a covered patio and some seating on Astroturf runs across the rear, this beer garden is actually a decent spot. The service was very polite, but I don’t plan on returning.

Modern place that was Surrey Pub of the Year in 2017, (according to their menu anyway – I suspect it was North Surrey CAMRA POTY). Five pumps on with a good range; W&E Conqueror (warm) and Knight of the Garter, Crafty Loxhill Biscuit (pump tired and a bit apply - I've had this beer elsewhere and really enjoyed it. Not here tho), Tillingbourne Gold and Hogsback TEA. Bar service perfunctory. Noisy twilds in attendance plus a door that wouldn't close properly, leading to people having to get up every few minutes to slam it shut to stop the cold getting in. Interior is of the inoffensive light and bright variety; magnolia walls, light grey fifth length wainscoting and an air of being new rather than lived in. 6 Nations on the telly and live music advertised. Slates with some cringey slogans on the wall to really round it all off. Given this was at least the local CAMRA branch Pub of the Year in 2017, I expected much better and left wondering what the fuss was about. The other GBG19 entry in Chertsey, the Olde Swan, delivered better ale and ambience.
