Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Kings Head
Fine-looking old inn at the top of the Market Square, with the bar and dining area at the front (tastefully refurbished in a semi-traditional style by the local Deben Inns mini-chain), the separate Barracks dining room at the back plus some wooden benches outside along the frontage. Four Adnams cask ales on handpump: Southwold Bitter, Ghost Ship, Broadside (£5.80) and the seasonal Old Ale (£5.70).

A pleasant and traditional pub at the top end of the Market Square, internally it consists of one room split in to two by a large chimney breast. The young barmaid was very bubbly and friendly and engaged in conversation with all the punters.
Décor wise it’s quite traditional with a heavy, ornate beamed ceiling, leaded windows, wood panelling on the lower part of the walls and inlaid timberwork elsewhere. Flooring was a mixture of red quarry tiles and carpet, whilst the paintwork was maroon and pale yellow. A number of framed Adnams advertisements were on the walls whilst the brick fire-place housed a real fire and a pile of logs was stacked up alongside ready for the colder weather. A couple of old leather sofas were a comfy spot to sit. The pub appears very dog friendly, and as well as numerous passport style photos of pooches adorning the walls, there was also a “Mutt’s Menu” should they get hungry. The snug to the right had a further large brick fire-place with a wood burning stove and a number of portraits of various kings, which seemed appropriate given the pub’s name. The menu was displayed on a number of boards above the fire-place and whilst we didn’t study this closely it appeared to include a number of pies at around the £10 mark.
Beers on tap were all from Adnams with their Southwold, Broadside, Ghost Ship and Mosaic Pale Ale. The solitary cider was Aspall’s Suffolk.

LOVELY BUILDING AND PLEASANT BAR FOLK, BUT OH MY IS THE FOOD EXPENSIVE SILLY REALLY AS IT IS OWNED BY A BREWER WHO PROVIDES SIMILAR FOOD ELSEWHERE AT HALF THE PRICE. A PINT OF BEER IS AROUND £3.30 SO MAKE YOUR MIND UP IF YOU WANT AN OLD BUILDING TO EAT IN TAKE A THICK WALLET.
