The White Lion is located in the estates in the north of the town centre so it was busy with a local crowd during my visit on Saturday afternoon. The entrance leads to a pool room at the front of the pub. There was an important game in progress as people were lining the walls around the table to watch. The bar is located through to the right on the rear wall where it faces seating. Further right is a raised seating area that also houses a dartboard. Televisions are located throughout for live sport, football and horse racing were airing during my visit. There is a jukebox on the wall, which was off for the sport.
The bar is stocked with a standard and limited premium keg range. The service was polite and the banter good natured, but I reckon it can get a bit lively in here. As a non-local this isn’t somewhere I’ll be revisiting.
