The Gainsborough is a wooden floored L-shaped pub with a central bar area that has an L-shaped stool lined serving counter on the rear wall. Standard and premium keg options were available alongside Neck Oil and three of the four hand pumps were unused and the Doom Bar was off, which isn’t great for 18:30 on a Friday. To be honest the scantily dressed not so young ladies that had turned up early doors for the weekly karaoke didn’t look to be the ale swilling type. This karaoke was being set up towards the front of the pub in the bar area while some loud modern music played off the jukebox. In the right rear is a pool table and in the left front is some seating beside an old exposed brick fireplace to the left that separates a small seating area with tartan carpet from the rest of the pub. The guy behind the bar seemed friendly enough, but I was glad to leave.
