The first pub you will come across on arrival into Southwold. This large corner pub is very traditional looking, but once through the doors it's quite trendy looking. I'd say this pub attracts the younger crowd on a visit into Southwold. Jukebox, pool table and barmeals etc. Ghostship and Southwold were on handpump. Only a few older drinkers in here on our early doors visit.

This is a large pub situated on an island at a junction as you enter the main part of the town. There are various areas, with some set as dining areas, and some for both eating and drinking. We have visited it on various occasions, and it seems to have gone downmarket from what it used to be. We went in early on Saturday evening to find there was a football match being broadcast on a very large flat screen, with the commentary volume set at headache level. We managed to find somewhere a bit quieter, and one of the staff started talking to us, who I assume was the new landlord. He informed us that the big sports screen was going, and the food was being improved. When I visited later in the week, the big screen had gone, but one was still on with a radio music channel. Fortunately, the sound was well down. Adnams bitter at £3.20, Broadside and Ghost Ship on draught. Explorer pump off. It does not get as busy as the pubs close to the see, and we will be visiting again.
