The Grapes is a laminate floored L-shaped Greene King pub with banquettes along the front window to the left of the entrance and up the left to some lime green banquettes across the rear. A central L-shaped serving counter supports two banks of three doubled up hand pumps that were drawing IPA, Abbot Ale and Old Speckled Hen. To the right of the counter is more seating and, in amongst some vinyl records hung on the right-hand wall, a television was airing BBC News. I thought the manager was very friendly, but this pub is easily forgettable, and I’ll be walking past next time I’m in town.

Still a GK pub with nothing of interest on the bar, we called in early eve midweek and the jukebox was blurring away. Only two undesirable drinkers in the place so did a sharp exit.
