Corner pub that was busy with an after-work crowd on my Friday afternoon visit. It was quite loud and boisterous with lots of banter. You enter into a bar where live sport is shown, but can walk through a side room with a pool table to the lounge, where the handpulls can be found. If anything, the lounge was busier and noiser than the bar. There is a garden area to the side, where in hindsight I should have retreated to. Apparently food stalls set up here at times.
Getting served was not easy as several bar blockers prevented access. One guy with a high-vis jacket on the back of his stool seemed a bit aggrieved that I had to stand right next to him in order to order and collect my drink. Perhaps it would be better to sit at one of the tables, if your personal space is so important?
Just the 3 real ales were on - Lacon's Encore & Green Jack Gone Fishing & LGM1 (Little Green Man 1). The Gone Fishing seemed a little on the strong side, so I plumped for the LGM1. The beer poured somewhat cloudy. But to give the barman his credit, he swiftly poured that one away and the next one through was much clearer and tasted absolutely fine.
Clearly popular with the locals, this is a community pub where dogs are also welcomed. With a varying beer choice and at least recognition when beer quality is not up to scratch, the pub deserves some credit. However, for the time of day, it did feel a little on the rough side.

Thriving neighbourhood pub on edge of town with strong local following. Two well furnished bars, with the larger right hand side being the games area, with 3 dartboards, table football and pool, as well as TV screens. There is also an outdoor area in the back of the rather confined car park. Draught beers include a couple of local beers alongside nationals and seemed in very good order.
