Whilst the Plough is outside of the village on the main A12, the Angel is the only pub in the actual village of Wangford. My Google Maps voice sounded suspiciously as if it had removed the 'g' and replaced it with a 'k', which semeed a little unfortunate!

The Angel seems to be a fairly upmarket pub/restaurant with accommodation. Customers had spilled out onto the street at the front, which seemed strange when I entered from the side and found loads of spare tables. However, all tables were made out for diners leaving no room for drinkers. As such, the main bar was overcrowded with customers and their dogs were taking up quite a bit of space on the floor too. Some were waiting for their tables to eat. Lord knows why when they all seemed to be free.

Attracting the young bar staffs' attention was a chore, with the crowds not helping their lack of any kind of awareness. Beers amounted to Trawlerboys, Norfolk Gem & Wherry. Once finally served, I took my drink and retreated to the empty garden which can be found off the side of the car park to the rear of the pub.

I could say that this pub lived up to its Google Maps pronunciation, but that would be doing it some disservice. Nevertheless, it was probably my least favourite of what turned out to be a good bunch of Suffolk pubs on the day of my visit.

We had not visited the Angel Inn for several years, and were looking forward to seeing it again. Unfortunately we chose a Monday and found it is closed on Mondays. My frustration is that they have a web site, and make no mention of it. I have not rated it as we could not try it. We may try again when we are back in the area.
