The Albert is more of a restaurant with a bar counter than a pub, although on my recent Wednesday evening visit the two other customers were sat at the counter drinking. Peroni, Poretti, Carling, Shipyard Pale and Somersby cider were the keg options. The interior is L-shaped with set tables across the front and up the right-hand windows. The central counter is mid left and at the rear is an open kitchen. I didn’t see any menus, but the three drawer pizza oven in the kitchen suggests this is an Italian restaurant & bar. I’m not sure where the country & western background music fits into it all. Friendly enough, but I’ll not be walking out of town again to visit just for a beer.

Now modernised to a virtual restaurant. Real Ale removed. All illuminated keg font. A quick half of Guinness, £2.40, and on my way.

This is a really lovely building, an old traditional local that has had slight updates giving it a comfortable tidy feel in an old traditional way, a brilliant combination. I used to pop in a lot when living in Tamworth 7-8 years ago, when it was also Good Beer Guided for its excellent Banks Mild and Bitter.
Its not large, and is basically a square room around a central bar. There is a pool table at one end, which perhaps takes up too much space for the pub? It is very close to Tamworth Station.
It would appear from the comments below that the pub has gone through changes over recent times, and this shows in the drinks selection - one real ale - Banks bitter that was very poorly kept.
However, it really doesn't need much more here, usually I like a range of real ales, with ever changing guest beers, but here for some reason I don't think it needs that, I think it has a feel where all is required is a well kept Banks Mild and a Banks Bitter and this would be a fantastic little pub. Lets hope they could just improve the current quality and then this pub would be at least a 9 out of 10 for me.
