A large village local with artificial stone flags on the floor and a modern bar counter. To the left is a large fireplace with a rather small solid fuel stove. There was a muted TV (Sky sports news, I think) and background music was playing. Three hand pumps on the bar, one without a pump clip but branded with the slogan "peak perfection", the other two with Sharps Doom Bar and Hobson's Town Crier available at the time of my visit. A few locals were using the pub at the time of my mid-afternoon midweek visit - the micropub across the road was not open at that time of day. I was glad of a beer stop, having cycled from Hartington in the Peak District and still a fair way to go to Coalport, but I have to say that Town Crier is by no means my favourite Hobson's beer - I wonder what they would have had on at the George & Dragon?

This is a multi-building, end terrace, white rendered pub and restaurant, with rear patio area.
The interior has three rooms; a function room, which i didn't see; a restaurant area, which seemed, as i only saw it at a glance in the dark, to be in white, with pine furniture and finally a bar room. As it was late this was the only room open. It is in red and white decor, with a nice carved wood serving bar. There is a nice wood/brick/stone fireplace and trophies dotted about, as well as ephemera like toby jugs and some footy pictures. There is a TV, it was showing Sky Sports News. The service was fine and the clientele consisted of a few locals. There was no music.
Beer; tap stuff with Leffe and London pride, Deuchars IPA and the guest ale - Holden's Golden Glow, which they were flogging for £2 and tasted a little lifeless - sad, as it is a class drink.
This is a general kind of village pub. Worth popping into.
