The entrance leaves you with two options ,left to the bar, right to the lounge. The bar room has a large leather banquette and a good sized fireplace, while the smaller carpeted lounge has ceiling mounted twigs covered in fairy lights, reminiscent of a grotto.Bench seating in here is comfortable and the room leads around to a restaurant. The mindless muzak seemed more for the benefit of the attractive barmaid and waitress but over all the interior was smart and well cared for.Three real ale with Doom Bar,Deuchars IPA and Everards Tiger (£3.20,well kept) and a sign indicating that CW Bombardier is a regular at the bar.The garden runs down to the Caldon Canal.
Functional and clean but hardly an ale selection to set the pulse racing.

Spent many a happy hour in this comfortable pub, in fact we used the upstairs rooms as practice rooms when I was a youngster in a group.

Good company, good beer, a nice welcome.
