The Bell & Bottle was the only pub on my list of 5 to visit in Hednesford that was open. Set in the backstreets, a canopied area has been set up at the rear of the pub adjacent to the car park.
Unfortunately, with only an outdoor bar available, there are no real ales. Keg options I could see were Carling, Carling Black Fruit, Worthington Original, Coors & Guinness.
Service was swift, but overall this was disappointing.

Traditional locals pub, retaining two separate bars; the public bar to the right of the entrance, with a raised pool table area at the side and the darts area further back, and a lounge / dining area (formed from two rooms by the look of things) to the left. The latter has a couple of fine etched W. Butler & Co. Ltd window panels, one of them indicating the former Smoke Room. Refurbished at some stage so all tidy enough. Just one real ale on handpump, but this was Gudgeon from Izaak Walton (£3.20) which was a bit of a surprise.

Update: It hasn't changed! The real ale choice is sadly just Doombar (even the SA Tribute had been turned around). Spent 15 mins watching World Cup and with Thatcher's Gold. This is a lovely pub building and worth a visit for that rather than beer choice.

Aug 2009: Detached cream rendered pub, with black paintwork. The interior had two rooms a lounge and a smoke room, with nice etched glass. The smoke room had white and blue decor, with lots of ornaments, signs, pictures etc to give a traditional feel, it also had three nice tiled fireplaces and some patterned glass. The lounge had pool, darts and Sky TV and had wood panel and cream walls, with some beams showing. Not a ripped seat showing that i could see and it was clean. The service was very friendly and the clientele small, as i was in the afternoon. Beer; tap tosh, without a MILD and two hanpulls on; Jennings Cumberland Ale and Slaters Premium. The Cumberland was ok. I would happily go back
