Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Chequers
Probably the most 'local' of the Whiston pubs, housed in quite a large building. Refurbished with light decor both inside and out. 'L'-shaped bar with a raised seating area and pool table to one side. Despite being the local Camra branch award winner, it had quite a weak real ale offering with just Greene King Old Golden Hen, Shepherd Neame Spitfire and Camerons Strongarm (£3.05) available from four handpumps when I visited. Nevertheless, quite a good pub.
