A long, white painted building, with several different rooms - two small ones at the front, a large central room with bar counter, and others that I didn't explore. I took my half of Guinness - in the absence of cask beer - to the room on the right (on entering), which was on the left as I returned from the bar with my drink. The main furniture here was a couple of settles, incongruously fitted with what seemed to be leatherette cushions. I'm not sure what to make of this pub, the beer (such as it was) was not too cold and was in fact a pretty decent drink. Service was provided by a young lass who seemed to be on her own mid-afternoon, and I got the impression she would rather be anywhere but here. I can't imagine what it might be like here when it's busy, which judging by the size of the car park, it probably is from time to time. Best not go there.

The Gate is a nice looking white painted pub.
Once inside the pub has been opened out but still retained different drinking areas,i propped the bar up,this area was quite narrow and for drinkers, the rear was set up for diners but you could drink anywhere.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Chantery New York Pale ale, this was a really nice drink, the other beer was Taylor Landlord.
The pub was very busy with both drinkers and diners on my early Saturday evening visit.
This is a nice smart looking pub that had a bit of an old worlde feel to it.
