A pub with rooms but the ground floor is a public bar. It’s a single square room with a U shaped servery in the rear centre. Very tastefully decorated and furnished in classic old style apart from a Triumph motorcycle in one corner. The counter is a nice wooden job with ceramic panels inset along the front face. The usual forest of T-Bars and solos populate the counter along with three pulls, one blank, one of the Wainwright family and a tolerable Taylors Landlord. Toilets down each side of the counter, ladies and access to a beer garden to the left. It has piped music and a silent screen, the juke box is lauded on several reference sites.

I popped into the Golden Eagle on a recent Tuesday to see if I could grab some food, but the kitchen is only open for evening meals. Food deals are available throughout the week with themed nights. Available from the central U-shaped bar is a standard keg range alongside Leffe and Blue Moon. Timothy Taylors Landlord was the only cask ale choice as the other two handpumps were off. There are seating areas to the rear either side of the bar. In the left side is a classic motorbike and there is a piano and plasma screen to the right. Another plasma screen is found in the front right seating area. An old-style flip jukebox was playing some background music.
The service was friendly enough and I suppose this place is good for a quiet beer, but I will not be rushing back.

a very dimly lit sidestreet pub doing very well judging by this Saturday afternoon. sadly it's a bit bland and full of dickheads. obviously strangled by a pubco with the now crap Landlord the only real ale and loads of adverts for food that no one was eating. give it a miss, it's a nothing pub.
