A large and rather splendid building by the station but inside is a bit drab and, on this visit at least, very noisy. Perhaps there were some quieter corners further in. Service was also pretty shambolic, partly due to the complicated layout. I counted at least 5 guest ales but didn't feel disposed to fight through the crowd in search of more. Adequate, but probably suffers as about the only source of decent ale in central Grimsby.

A huge rambling and gloomy Spoons, all the walls and ceilings are Wedgewood blue and the lights are barely 20 watts; it feels like an unused concept zone from the Crystal Maze. A brightening-up would do wonders here, and you have to wonder what went through their minds during the 2016 refurb. Had cause to use it a few times as I was staying upstairs (the rooms being of the usual high standard for the price). My one sample of the bar wares found six cask on, I ordered a half of Batemans and got a pint (NBSS 2.5) which didn't really justify the GBG listing. Super friendly staff, at least. But I really didn’t like the ambience in here at all. Still, very handy for the station which is literally 10 yards away.

Wetherspoons hotel place with rooms to the front and rear. Decent selection of ales - one at 6.6% ABV which I can't remember the name of!
