Hotel bar. Turn right as you enter and the bar is to the left. Two or three weak hand pumps, the rest keg. Restaurant further right full of happy diners.

Yes, it's a hotel bar, with the expected semi-modern furniture and decor in the bar and dining room (plus a restaurant and several function rooms), but it's all set in an attractive building and offers more than initial appearances suggest. There is a west-facing patio terrace that can capture the evening sun, and three handpumps can be found on the counter. These were dispensing Black Sheep and Landlord, plus Hard Craft from the local Docks Beers.

Another hotel, restaurant and bar, but more of a pubby feel at the bar than most, and reasonably priced. The bar is decorated in red wallpaper with a gold flower print, and furnished with round wooden tables and upholstered chairs. Four handpulls on the bar are currently offering Timothy Taylor Landlord, Black Sheep Bitter, Thwaites Good Elf, and Tunnel Vision. My pint of Landlord (£3.30) was in good condition but served a tad too cold. The main courses on the specials board were priced at £7.50 each, with a curry night on Tuesdays and fish and chip night on Fridays. There is a pool table in the room behind, and the main restaurant is a separate area, a smart modern conservatory extension.
