A backstreet sports pub for the locals, laid out in a strange collection of small areas off the main bar with various sports screens around, showing different channels. There is also a pool table in one of them. The barmaid was cheery enough but the few regulars seemed soporific, to say the least. Sadly just John Smiths and Worthington Creamflow as bitters, so back to the Guinness.

A back street pub with not just a pictorial inn sign to match its name, but also an appropriate sculpture above the portico. Inside it's much like any old market town pub, with several rooms having been amalgamated by removing their doors and in some cases walls too. It was very friendly, staff and locals making me feel welcome. And despite the absence of cask beers, I quite liked it here. The Worthington was 50p/pint cheaper than at the Woolpack, and it was also less gassy and not so cold.

OK pub, good staff, no real ale on, Disco on a Friday night seems popular with the locals
