The George is quite a large pub in the centre of Barton-upon-Humber with dining and accommodation. As you enter, there is a traditional snug to the left-hand side. We only noticed it when leaving. But it was unoccupied. So, we'd have probably chosen the main bar regardless.
The main room is reasonably cosy, but fairly characterless. A separate area to the rear had TVs showing sport, whilst off to the right-hand side were further rooms for diners. Boards advertised some strange ice cream flavours and some different meals for your dog, whilst another display was marketing super-size bags of crisps for £3. Whilst this is a coaching inn, it now has a very commercial feel to it.
Real ales were Timothy Taylor Boltmaker & Acorn Barnsley Bitter. Service was professional, but indifferent.

The George is a well sited and large pub,although a great deal of the space is taken up by the accommodation section of the pub.Called in around 12-30 on a Tuesday and noticed quite a few of the blue rinse brigade taking advantage of the meals on offer.There was 3 cask beers to choose from and found the place smart and the bar staff quite friendly

The pub has been gutted and completely refurbished and has new owners. Very nice transformation.
