A traditional high street pub with 14th Century origins, but which has been updated continually over the centuries. There is a small floorboarded bar at the front, and a second similar bar at the back. The latter has been opened out at the rear, has a vaulted wooden ceiling and has a wooden staircase ascending to a dining room on the first floor. There is a paved rear garden which serves mainly as a smoking area. It was quite a pleasant place to sit, and the staff were friendly enough, though the barmaid didn’t seem to know much about beer. Food was mass produced, sold at average prices. Doombar was available in the front bar, TT Landlord at the back, both over-gassed. Also on tap were Neck Oil, Gamma Ray, Inches Cider, Guinness, Amstel, Moretti, Heineken and Thatcher’s. Good enough for a pint or two.

Pleasant pub right on the high street with flagstones in the smaller front bar. Friendly staff and a decent looking pub menu, with an unusual choice of sandwiches.
Beers served straight from the barrel, on this occasion they had Cheddar's Potholer and Merlin's Magic. Also Thatcer's Heritage cider (again, straight from the barrel) and Scrumpy Jack.
