A good town inn dating from the 17th Century, refurbished a couple of years ago, which still does B&B. There is a small outside area with seats at the front and a paved courtyard garden behind. The interior is basic, a single long bar with various seating styles. It’s a popular local that does good beer – Cotleigh Sea Hawk, Jail Ale and Doombar were on draft alongside Hophouse Lager as an alternative, plus some keg ciders. Staff were very chatty, and the locals were more civilised than many others in Wellington. Well worth a visit for its beer quality and a definite for a town crawl.

This is a nice looking old pub from outside. Inside it's an open plan room that is split into different areas. The small bar is on the left as you enter and there is a dining area at the rear that has a collection of clocks.
The bar has five hand pumps which on my weekday November visit had two unused, Doom Bore, St Austell Trelawny and the ubiquitous Dartmoor Jail Ale. I went for the Trelawny (£2.50) which although great value was hazy and a bit on the warm side.
It's a shame that the beer quality let this one down as the staff were friendly and it seemed a nice place.
