A small roadside pub on the main road, easy to miss. From the outside it looks rather shabby and uninviting. Once inside, it’s just shabby. The entrance to the car park is on the busy main road and is easy to miss as it’s not well signed, though once in it’s a good size. There is no garden worth speaking of, but if there were the traffic noise would make it unbearable. On entering the building there is a strong smell of decay, most unappealing, but either we got used to it quickly or it doesn’t pervade the bar. The single L-shaped bar is carpeted and has two fireplaces from the original two-room layout, one repro and one a 1960s stone affair. These were both lit and made it feel quite cosy. There was a strange old lady behind the bar, who when asked to serve us disappeared and was replaced by the landlady, who was quite friendly. The locals were a decent bunch, mostly middle-aged men, and dogs were encouraged. Three was no real ale, and food was not being served. Worth passing by as there are better pubs close by.
