Decent little back street pub which wasn't overrun with tourists when I called. The area out the front was a good sun trap on a nice day. As ETA states there is no real view but nothing wrong with a bit of people watching! Tribute and Landlord on during my visit. The Tribute was pretty good. Worth popping in.

A traditional old fashioned Victorian seaside hotel with a nostalgic feel to it yet which remains current. There is a large outside seating area at the front, though there isn’t any view worth speaking of. It looks a bit weathered, but there was a genuinely warm welcome inside, and it hasn’t been spoiled by the tourist trade. There is a public bar on the left as you enter, which has a pool table at one end and a large TV showing live football. The other side holds a saloon bar. The décor like the frontage, is dated, but maybe that’s part of its charm. It’s a friendly pub, with cheerful young staff and treats for dogs. There’s a good local feel, and even the local beat bobby popped in for a cuppa and a chat. Food is modern pub grub, listed on a laminated menu card. Ales on were Jail Ale and Pride, an there was a handpump with Old Rosie on. Keg offerings were Old Moutt Thatcher’s Gold, Coors, Carling, Stella, Fosters and San Miguel. Worth popping in if you’re in the area.
