A rather depressing instantiation of this uninspiring chain, and no surprises here. The single long room, with its worn carpet and lino tiles, looks very dated indeed, probably one of the many reasons the grockles looked so miserable. Or maybe that’s their usual demeanour, or maybe they just find Burnham uninspiring. The staff were functional at best, certainly lacking in people skills. There is a children’s play area, the toilets are upstairs (so it feels a bit like a ‘Spoons), and the atmosphere is far from convivial. The solitary ale on draft was GK IPA, average condition, while most people were drinking from the keg range of Madri, Coors, Guinness, John Smith’s, Moretti, San Miguel and Peroni. The food was the usual tired microwaved mass-produced, ultra-processed mixture of fat, gristle and bad sugars. All rather depressing really.

Pretty standard Hungry horse which is a fair stroll out of Burnham. It seemed popular with plenty people ordering food. Just IPA or Abbott's on the ale front but at least a choice. The Abbott's was fine. I'd probably come here to eat but not worth the walk for the beer alone.
