A grubby-looking roadside pub in a fairly new building which looks a bit mock Tudor from the outside and a barn conversion inside. It sits right by the main road, which means the large garden at the back is noisy, as is the interior when the windows are open. There is plenty of parking, though some spaces are currently taken up with wooden benches to assist social distancing. Inside, it has a cosy feel helped by the exposed structural timbers, stone pillars and open fireplace at one end of the single long bar. The young staff were friendly, if a little inefficient, the chef came out and seemed quite jolly, but the landlady was a bit more grumpy. Food was basic pub grub and seemed good value compared to some other nearby pubs. Two ales on, Doombar and Otter Ale; these were not in good condition but were just about drinkable. There was a large coffee machine on the bar. Dogs are not allowed in, which makes it problematic as a local, though the majority of their revenue comes from families travelling down the M5. It has too many downsides for me to seek out again.

Had a really bad sunday dinner there the other week, WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT, STAFF NEED TO HAVE A PERSONALITY TRANSPLANT! Everything too much trouble and cutlery thrown at us and when asked for condiments we were tutted at. Made us think we should have not been there. With new owners and staff this pub could be a gold mine!!!!!
