The Talbot is a very basic town centre boozer that had a handful of locals in watching horse racing at Cheltenham during a recent Tuesday late afternoon visit. The wainscotting around the pub is painted grey and the walls are a different shade of grey. The décor is minimal, a couple of quotes and some children’s drawings that should be on the fridge in the kitchen. In a sunken area to the right of the entrance is a pool table and the bar counter runs along the left-hand wall. There’s seating in the front window and a table is found in the sparsely furnished rear on the dartboard oche. Limited standard keg was available. As soon as the main horse race of the day had finished the televisions were switched to a music channel and half the customers left. Out the back is a wall enclosed tarmacked area with a few picnic tables. This isn’t a great pub so I will walk past if I find myself in this area again.

Busy , lively pub half way up Dawleys main street , this was my first visit here for around twenty years and nothings really changed , the bar is to the left of the entrance there is a pool table to the rear and steps on the right lead down to another room with a projecter TV screen , there are a couple more TVs in the area by the window , very busy on my visit , service was good but its very much a locals pub not exactly a slauhtered lamb but not far off .
No real ale on just the usual fizzy kegs
Not really my type of place , if you took the TVs out you could be in 1974 , but they must be doing something right for it to be so busy
